Nothing can be compared to attending Carnival in Jamaica, a festival of high-energy, fun-filled events. From beach parties to breakfast fetes, weekly mas camps to J’Ouvert and colourful street parades of costumed revelers swinging to pulsating music. The annual bash in Jamaica kicks off in January and ends in April after the Easter holiday. Carnival events take place mainly in the Kingston and Ocho Rios resort areas, with four major bands in Kingston and an Ocho Rios band. Throughout the season revelers are treated to special shows featuring Jamaican and international soca and dancehall artists. The finale of the carnival season is a true spectacle, as the culmination of weeks of partying takes to the streets with each band hosting their own Road March. Carnival in Jamaica is truly a unique expression of our island spirit and showcases to the world a carnival unique to Jamaica.

The carnival's events last for two months and attract more than 100,000 guests, local and tourist. Due to the numerous visitors during the carnival days and the high demand for accommodations, it is recommended that you book your rooms well in advance.

Most of the big events take place on Easter Week. The main events are held in Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, in Negril and Montego Bay; lately Ocho Rios has began to play a part in the celebration. There are also fetivals in other cities, including Discovery Bay which hosts its own Carnival - The Discovery Bay Carnival.

Carnival atmosphere is spread all over the island. Lots of bands play various music styles including Reggae, Calypso and Soca. A Children's Parade takes place during the carnival days, but the climax is the colorful Adult's Parade which starts on the last day of the carnival in Beach Jouvert.
